Elke storing of verlies van gegevens kan verwoestende gevolgen hebben. Gegevensverlies kan elk moment optreden. Daarom moet je als dienstverlener in staat zijn om de bedrijfskritieke gegevens van je klanten zo snel mogelijk te herstellen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoe snel je weer normaal kunt werken, hangt af van het moment waarop je de laatste gegevensback-up hebt gemaakt. Door een ontoereikende back-up kun je uren, dagen of zelfs weken werk verliezen. Met alle gevolgen van dien voor de productiviteit van medewerkers en de levensvatbaarheid van de onderneming op lange termijn.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wat-is-continuous-data-protection\"><strong>Wat is continuous data protection?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Continuous_Data_Protection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Continuous data protection<\/a> (CDP) of realtime back-up is een proces waarbij elke verandering die een gebruiker in zijn gegevens aanbrengt, automatisch een back-up van die gegevens veroorzaakt. Ofwel, elke wijziging die de gebruiker doorvoert, wordt direct gekopieerd en opgeslagen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De echte kracht van dit proces is de mogelijkheid om op elk moment klantgegevens te herstellen zonder kritieke gegevens te verliezen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eenvoudig gezegd zorgt CDP ervoor dat eindgebruikers hun werk in uitvoering niet kwijtraken. Continuous data protection kent twee categorie\u00ebn, gebaseerd op <strong>recovery point objectives<\/strong> (RPO&#8217;s). Die bepalen de maximale tijd die is toegestaan voor gegevens die door een incident verloren gaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Near CDP: <\/strong>is enig gegevensverlies aanvaardbaar? Dan kun je near CDP gebruiken. Dit beperkt het aantal back-ups, waarbij eerdere versies overschreven worden.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>True CDP: <\/strong>is geen enkel gegevensverlies aanvaardbaar? Dan zijn de RPO\u2019s nul en worden de gegevens bij elke verandering voortdurend geback-upt. Echte continue back-upsystemen leggen \u00e1lle veranderingen vast in een wijzigingslogboek op het CDP-systeem. Zo kun je op elk moment een back-up terugzetten, zonder gegevensverlies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-hoe-werkt-continuous-data-protection\"><strong>Hoe werkt continuous data protection?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Met CDP worden alle veranderingen aan de brongegevens naar een aparte bestemming gekopieerd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meestal bevindt die doelschijf zich op hetzelfde netwerk als de bron, zodat je snel verloren gegevens kunt terugzetten. Een off-site back-up biedt natuurlijk betere bescherming, omdat de doelschijf zich niet in hetzelfde netwerk bevindt. Maar dat levert ook een hogere latentie op.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In sommige gevallen maken continue back-upsystemen kopie\u00ebn op twee locaties. Maar het brengt ook enkele uitdagingen met zich mee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-voordelen\"><strong>Voordelen<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Elke verandering wordt vastgelegd en er worden kopie\u00ebn gemaakt, zodat je ze in het veranderingslogboek kunt terugvinden en de gegevens op elk moment kunt herstellen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elke gegevenstransactie blijft bewaard. Dat is van essentieel belang voor bedrijven in streng gereguleerde branches, zoals de financi\u00eble dienstverlening, of bij het forensisch onderzoek naar beveiligingsincidenten.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Back-ups kunnen zo vaak je wilt naar een extern datacenter worden gerepliceerd. Dat is belangrijk voor je disaster recovery-diensten.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Met meerdere back-ups van elk bestand kun je zonder gegevensverlies terugkeren naar elke vorige versie.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-uitdagingen\"><strong>Uitdagingen<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CDP vereist snelle harde schijven, wat een aanzienlijke investering in fysieke schijfopslag kan betekenen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Het volume van de gegevens neemt exponentieel toe. Alles wordt immers meteen geback-upt.
